What is the most common Easter gift?
It might not come as a surprise that candy is the most popular gift during the Easter season. From candy eggs and chocolate bunnies to jelly beans, it’s no wonder Easter ranks just behind Halloween as the second biggest candy-buying holiday. After all, one of the main Easter traditions is the classic egg hunt! Out of all that candy, about 70% is chocolate alone. I mean, who can really say no to Cadbury eggs and chocolate bunnies?
Between the sweet treats and the fun traditions, it’s easy to get caught up in the playful side of Easter—and I’m definitely guilty of that, too. I love pulling out the pastel eggs my boys and I have painted over the years (we blow out the yolk so they can last for years!), along with all the cute bunnies to decorate our mantel. But recently, I realized our Easter decor was a little one-sided. Sure, the bunnies, chicks, and flowers are fun—but what’s the real reason we celebrate Easter? Why do we even have it as a holiday in the first place?
What is the greatest gift of Easter?
The festive Easter decorations, fun gifts, and delicious chocolate bunnies are all part of what makes the season so enjoyable. But the greatest gift by far given to us on Easter isn’t wrapped in colorful paper or hidden in eggs.
The greatest give ever given was the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ—the very reason we celebrate this holiday. His sacrifice and victory over death is the heart of Easter, the source of all our hope and joy. So, I found myself asking, why isn’t my decor and my activities during this time of year more centered around the true meaning of Easter, the ultimate gift of love and grace that Jesus gave to all of us?
This year, I decided that needed to change. I wanted my home to reflect the true spirit of Easter, so I gave my fireplace mantel a meaningful makeover. A lovely He is Risen printable became the starting point, paired with a Hallelujah sign I created to match. Both are now framed and displayed alongside a beautiful image of the stone rolled away from the tomb. I had the artwork printed and shipped to my door, and it has created a simple yet powerful reminder of the true meaning of Easter.

Recreate the Look:
Isn’t it lovely?! I’m so happy with how it turned out.
It has brought a sweet balance between the cheerful spirit of spring and the profound significance of Jesus Christ and His Atonement. The bright, fresh elements of the season mix perfectly with the deeper, more meaningful reminders of Easter. I know I can always improve, but this feels like a great start!
Incorporating Christ into Easter
When it comes to Easter activities, we still love hosting our annual Easter Egg Hunt and Breakfast—but, I’ve been looking for ways to bring more Christ-centered meaning into the season. It got me thinking about Christmastime. Why is it that we often act out the nativity, yet rarely consider reenacting the events of Holy Week that led to Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection? My friend mentioned that she does this with her family. I couldn’t believe I hadn’t thought of it before! Do you do this? If so, YOU ROCK! So this year, we’re giving it a try.
My church also shared some beautiful daily devotionals for Holy Week. They’ve really helped me stay centered and feel Christ’s love more deeply during this season. I’ve been loving them so far!
If you have small children, I found some wonderful animated videos that walk through the events of Holy Week. They’re created by Living Scriptures, and I’ve been really impressed with how well they teach gospel truths while keeping my kids engaged. There’s a video for each day leading up to the Savior’s resurrection, and it’s been such a great way to help my children understand and connect with the true meaning of Easter.
One of our favorite traditions during the Christmas holiday is baking and delivering treats to friends and neighbors. As I was thinking about this, I realized, why don’t we do something similar at Easter? It’s a wonderful way to share the joy of the season with those around us.

So, this year, my husband is going to teach the boys how to make homemade bread. Then we’re planning to deliver it to our friends and neighbors. But, of course, you know me—I can’t very well send the bread off naked! So I got busy creating a gift tag to make it feel more meaningful. It’s a small touch, but it really makes a difference!
While I already have some bunny gift tags (which are super cute, by the way!), I wanted these to reflect what Easter is all about—the resurrection of Jesus. So, I turned to the New Testament for inspiration. I chose a well-known phrase from the book of Luke, chapter 24, verse 6:
“He is not here. But is Risen.”
I love how they turned out! Very simple design, but that beautifully captures the message. I’m also using them to add a special touch to a few goodie bags for friends at church on Easter Sunday. Hopefully they will enjoy them too!

To add a personal touch, sign each tag and punch a hole at the top, then thread bakers twine, ribbon, or jute twine through it. If you’re attaching the tags to cookies or are just not interested in using string, simply use double-sided tape to stick them directly onto the clear baggies.
