Last year we hosted our first ever Easter Egg Hunt and breakfast. It was so much fun that we are planning on making it an annual event!

One thing that we did at the hunt that the children really enjoyed was the chance of finding a golden Easter egg.

Along with hiding the typical colored eggs (these plastic eggs are seriously the best!) The golden egg was very special because instead of having candy inside, it held a golden ticket! They were then able to trade in their golden ticket for a special prize of their choosing from the golden egg prize basket.

Golden Egg Prizes

We had a basket of prizes to pick from for all the children who had found a golden egg. We had various fun items inside the basket such as Easter crafts, coloring books, toy cars, sticky ninjas, Easter egg chalk, and stuffed animals which I had found at the dollar section at Target or the Dollar Store. I also hit up the after Easter sales in search of fun prizes for the next year’s hunt.

With only five golden eggs hidden, each one was a hot commodity! So to prevent any anarchy around the prize basket, the golden tickets informed the holders to “find the lady with the bunny ears for a prize”. This way the prize basket was monitored and calmed the selection process down.
