Do I have a fun baby shower to share with you today! This woodland themed baby shower turned out just perfect and the expectant mama loved it!
My friend is expecting her second little one which will be her first little boy! When I heard the exciting news, I immediately began brainstorming ideas for a football themed shower. But when my friend Caden suggested going with a Woodland themed baby shower my thoughts quickly switched directions and became filled with forest foliage and little woodsy creatures. And it actually was the perfect theme for our friend!
Woodland Baby Shower Theme Inspiration
The woodland theme is awesome because there really are no limits to what you can come up with! Aside from perusing Pinterest for some ideas, you can get a ton of inspiration simply by stepping outside, not to mention lots of free materials to use for decorating! 😉
A few staple items you might already have lying around your home that you could use are:
- wood crates
- chalkboards
- mason jars
- greenery, green plants (Do you have any small Christmas trees?)
- twine
- burlap
- wood textures
- neutral dishes – white, clear
And from the outdoors, be sure to grab:
- pine cones
- acorns
- wood – wood cut circles or firewood
- green foliage
- flowers (especially for a little girl baby shower)
The Entry Decor
I always like to have a few balloons on the mailbox and some type of embellishment by the front door to give guests a taste of the fun that is to come!
A crate, a little burlap, a few pinecones, a mini tree, chalkboard sign, and we were in business!
It was enjoyable playing with the setup of the entry because like I said, decor for the woodland theme is so easily accessible! Caden and I decided our display needed something else. So she went round back and returned with a few pieces of firewood. It finished off our woodsy entrance quite nicely!
And don’t forget to add a few little forest friends into the mix to cutesy things up! My fox design was a perfect fit for the occasion!
We displayed the fox guest book on the entry table along with pens, cutout circles, and this mini chalkboard sign asking everyone to sign a balloon. I’m a big fan of this alternative guest book because first off it makes for a super cute baby shower decoration and second, it doubles as a great gift to the new mama to hang up in her nursery.
If you love the guest book, you are in the right place because you can download it for FREE. That’s always a good price! 🙂 Oh, and did I mention you can also edit the text? Helpful right?!

The Woodland Decor
We had four points of interest where we staged our decorations. The outside, the entry, the food table, and the main gathering place for presents.
Decorating the mantel was actually fairly easy since Caden already had the area adorned beautifully. We simply swapped out a few things here and there and it looked fabulous!
How cute are the beads in this banner! It added such a fun element to it.
What better way to display the gifts for a woodland shower than having them in a teepee! Funny story about the teepee, it is actually someone’s future Christmas present! So it was the last thing to be set up after all the kids left the house for a few hours. And it was the first thing to be taken down and stored away when the shower was wrapping up. 🙂
You can make all sorts of fun signs with chalkboards! I made this “you’re our greatest adventure” sign which helped tie in the theme well. I have also seen some really cute ones (like this one) that you can purchase and then you could gift it to the mama-to-be!
Woodland Baby Shower Activities
It’s funny how baby shower games have such a bad rap. When a few guests first entered the baby shower, I asked them if they had signed one of the circles (for the guest book) immediately one of the ladies said
“I DON’TÂ like baby shower games!”
Yikes!
I assured her it was only for a guest book.
But I admit I was a bit nervous and tried to avoid eye contact when a little while later I announced that we would be playing some games! I quickly added that it would be nothing silly or messy.
We first handed out cards for Baby Name Race. How you play is everyone tries to think of 26 names beginning with each letter of the alphabet. Whoever fills in all the blanks (with ligament names) first wins.

This game was perfect for our shower because the mama-to-be hadn’t chosen a name yet. We gave her all the filled in cards afterwards. Who knows, maybe she will pick one of the names someone wrote down! 🙂 And it helped that the “game haters’ didn’t mind it that much.
Another game we had was Would She Rather (which you can grab for free on my blog, just click on the link!). I like this one because it focuses on the mama-to-be so everyone learns something new about her.
Woodland Baby Shower Food Ideas
The food table couldn’t have been cuter! I wanted to capture EVERY. SINGLE. DETAIL for you folks! But I was afraid of a picture overload- there’s like 15+ photos just of the food! So I composed another post that focuses solely on the woodland food table that you won’t want to miss (just click on the link!)!
Along with chalkboards, I am also a big fan of letter boards. You can use them again and again for any type of event!
My lovely friends that made it all happen for this sweet mama!Â
