This Christmas Free Printable to help add a bit of the true meaning of the season.
I really like this quote from Howard W. Hunter because it really is in the little things that make up Christmas. I think it fits perfect for a New Year’s Resolution as well.
I was excited when I was asked to make a hand out with the quote and took the opportunity to be a little creative with it. Here is the quote in plain non-fancy text:
βThis Christmas, mend a quarrel. Seek out a forgotten friend. Dismiss suspicion and replace it with trust. Write a letter. Give a soft answer. Encourage youth. Manifest your loyalty in word and deed. Keep a promise. Forgo a grudge. Forgive an enemy. Apologize. Try to understand. Examine your demands on others. Think first of someone else. Be kind. Be gentle. Laugh a little more. Express your gratitude. Welcome a stranger. Gladden the heart of a child. Take pleasure in the beauty and wonder of the earth. Speak your love and then speak it again.β
Our woman’s church group (aka Relief Society) had a Christmas party this past week with the theme of “The best Gift”. At the party, we had a hot chocolate bar and enjoyed a cup while socializing with each other in festive comfy pajamas. We had a devotional sharing first this video entitled the Reason Behind Christmas.
After the video, we read the quote and handed out the Christmas Printable to each of the ladies.

AJ, I’ve never heard the quote before. And I’m a little surprised, it’s a beautiful quote. Where has it been all my life? I love the way that you fashioned it into a chalkboard printable, I am a huge sucker for chalkboard, and I love that it’s in the shape of a Christmas tree. What a lovely piece this would make in any holiday home. A great franed gift for any loved one. Thanks so much for making it and thanks for sharing it. I love it.

Hi Aspen. I would love to use this printable this year, but it comes through scratched up. Is there an original you could share? Thanks so much!
Aspen Jay says
Hi Nicole! What exactly do you mean when you say scratched up? It is a chalkboard printable so it is designed with a chalky like background. It is more than that? Just let me know!

Hi! I love this quote! I am basing my lesson in Relief Society off this next week and I would love to have this as a handout!! Thank you for it! But, I am wondering, when I download it it has a white square like at the top of it almost on half the page. Am I doing something wrong?
Aspen Jay says
Hi Stephanie!
Hmmm… that’s odd. Did you try using a different computer to see if you get the same results?
Julie Johnson says
Same thing happened for me. Please let me know if anyone finds a fix. I love this and will use it if I can make it print like the picture on the blog. So cute!
Aspen Jay says
Hi Julie,
I just double checked on my printer and it printed fine. Did you try a different computer? What type of printer are you using?
Aspen Jay says
Hi Stephanie,
Were you able to get it printed without the white square? What type of printer are you using?
Stephanie says
No, I didn’t, but I didn’t try another computer yet either. Thanks for responding though.
Susan says
It looks like a square until you click on the pdf download after it is downloaded actually on your computer. It worked perfectly for me and I am using it for my lesson today. Thank you AJ! I am sending your link out to this article for them as well!
Aspen Jay says
Hi Susan! I’m so glad that it worked with your lesson! π
