I can hardly believe how fast summer flew by! October is just around the corner and here I am finally getting around to sharing some pictures of our trip to Oregon.
Many people’s vacation consist of visiting exotic places, but living across the country from our family, we spend our funds and time visiting them.
It’s family and that’s what it is all about, right?
We were all very excited for this trip, my husband and I mostly so that our boys would have the opportunity to interact with their cousins, who they only see once a year. I flew out with the boys (yes by myself! You can read more about it here) a few weeks early in order to spend a bit more time with cousins, my sisters and parents.
Last year when I visited home early by myself, it was hard. Boston and Tennessee were extra clingy which ruined all my grand dreams of getting some personal time, but this year was a completely different story.
Boston headed straight for the backyard with his cousins every day and the older girls took to Tennessee (I mean who cannot resist this face?). So I actually enjoyed a bit of a ‘summer’. 🙂
And although you see mostly smiles, this is what things look like …oh… I would say a good fourth of the time.
Boston insisted on wearing his floatie out to the ocean. It came in really handy when he decided to wade through a ‘little pool’ which ended up not being so little after all.
Our EPIC sandcastle, built by my sister and me. It took us a good part of the day to construct and I had the sun burn to prove it. I was hoping the men folk would help us out, but after my little guy Boston threw down the gauntlet they went crabbing. When Boston saw my husband’s start of his sandcastle and compared it to mine he said
“Daddy has a baby sandcastle and Mommy has a BIG sandcastle.” Well said Son. 🙂
This picture was taken right before Tennessee decided to fall in and we had to race him back to the house to warm him up.
That’s the Oregon coast for you!
We had the opportunity to travel to my husband’s hometown in Washington which is in the middle of no where. When I say ‘no where,’ I mean there isn’t even a traffic signal in the town.
The boys were in Heaven!
They rode tractors, four-wheelers, trucks and spent most of their time outside in the dirt playing with my husband’s cousin’s kids (2nd cousins?) which were four boys and just one girl which is a complete opposite to what they had been used to for most of the month.
It was definitely a boy’s weekend!
And here is my crazy awesome family, well most of them anyways. 🙂
It was a fun summer! 🙂

It looks like you guys had a great time! I can’t imaging flying with two kids by myself, but I’m sure it was worth it!

We sure did! This year, only because I could actually handle the thought of flying, it was worth it! 🙂
