Green Smoothies are all the rage now. Ever had one? Sound gross? I admit, when my sister first told me about green smoothies, I wasn’t too thrilled to try them out. But to my surprise, they actually taste good! My toddler and I enjoy a green smoothie for breakfast just about every morning.
One thing to keep in mind with green smoothies is to be sure to rotate your greens. Leafy greens have alkaloids that are great in small amounts but can be toxic if you eat too much of them. Everything in moderation, right? Your body can easily detoxify small amounts but it is harder for the body to get rid of large amounts of poisons. Also, eating a variety of leafy greens provides your body with a more balanced amount of vitamins and minerals.
This green smoothie is always a favorite of mine and is a good beginner/kid friendly green smoothie. The ingredients are not unusual so you probably have them all on hand. To top it off, my husband even said it was okay. He usually shuns away from anything he considers “too” healthy, so that alone is a miracle!
