St. Patrick’s Day traditions???
Do you have any fun St. Patrick’s Day traditions? There is of course the universally known tradition of always wearing green. You know, so no pinchy, pinchy. But are there other fun things you look forward to doing?
One year while I was in college, some friends and I planned a potluck. Because it was on St. Patty’s day, the meal’s theme was anything and everything GREEN! Some may think that was easy, like salads and such, but we got a bit more creative than that. There were several foods, not typically green that came with a glorious emerald complexion. Including but not limited to green mashed potatoes. Yum!?!
Last year for St. Patrick’s Day, we watched a movie as a family that was of Ireland decent, called The Quiet Man. It is one of our all time favorite John Wayne movies. If you haven’t seen it before, you may want to pull that out for St. Patrick’s Day. It’s a classic.
I guess one tradition we have is that we enjoy checking out St. Patrick’s Day books (this is a super cute one!) from the library. I’ll read them to the boys as soon as Valentine’s is over up until March 17th. But word to the wise, you’ll want to snag the books in February because they will ALL be checked out by March. At least that’s been my experience in the last three library counties I have lived in.
I’m still dabbling with family traditions for this holiday, so far I ain’t got much, but I do decorate a little bit with green.
St. Patrick’s Day Subway Art Printable
I dress up my mantel with a clover banner and a few shamrocks. It’s not a lot of decor but it at least reminds us what season it is and gives us a reason to change up the color scheme. 🙂
So to help us with our green, I designed a fun subway art print that is full of all things St. Patrick’s Day. From pot’s o’ gold to leprechauns to Saint Patrick himself to Blarney Stone! And speaking of Blarney Stone, did you know it is an actual rock that people kiss, upside down, for good luck? I never knew that! Anywho…
Simply print the file, slip it into your favorite frame, and you’ll have some awesome St. Patty’s decor.
