Growing up, our classroom Valentines usually consisted of store-bought cards and a big bag of conversation heart candies. I remember carefully picking which sayings went to each friend and thinking it was the best part of putting Valentines together.
These days, there are so many more options for classroom Valentines, and it seems like more families are looking for non-candy Valentine ideas. Between school policies, allergies, and just wanting something a little different, small toy Valentines have become very popular.
My kids have gotten a few of those little squishy animals, and while they somehow seem to get dirty the second they’re opened, my littles enjoy playing with them. So I decided to design some squishy Valentine cards to pair with small squishy toys for a fun, non-candy classroom Valentine option. I added a fun play on words: “Hugs and Squishes and Valentine Wishes.”
They turned out super cute and were a big hit in my son’s kindergarten class! He was so excited to hand them out, and honestly, I loved having something ready that didn’t involve last-minute candy runs (thank goodness for quick online orders!).

Squishy Valentine Cards
If you’re looking for a simple Valentine idea kids get excited about and parents can put together quickly, these Hugs & Squishes squishy Valentine cards are a great option. They pair perfectly with small squishy toys and make a fun non-candy classroom Valentine that still feels special.
Best of all, these are a printable Valentine card, so you can download, print, and have them ready in no time. Which is always a win during busy school weeks and class party prep! I love having something simple like this ready to go when things get a little crazy — which is most of the time!
What You’ll Need
- Free squishy Valentine cards printable (link below!)
- White cardstock
- Small squishy toys
- Scissors or paper cutter
- 3×5 inch cellophane baggies (optional)
- Tape or glue dots (optional)
That’s it — super simple prep.

How to Assemble the Squishy Valentines
- Download the printable file. It will save to your Downloads folder as a zip file — just double-click to open.
- Print the squishy Valentine cards on regular paper or cardstock. Cardstock will feel sturdier, but both work great.
- Cut out each card along the trim lines and have your child write their name — or keep reading if you want a shortcut, aka the editable version!
- After the cards are cut, you have two options. You can attach the squishy (which is usually in its own little bag) directly to the card with tape. Or, if you want a slightly more finished look, place the card inside a small cellophane baggie, set the squishy on the circle spot, and seal the bag. The squishy will stay in place inside the baggie, so you don’t need to secure it further. Since the cards are exactly 3 inches across, if you use 3-inch baggies, you may need to trim just a little extra off the sides — that’s what I did.
- Share with friends and classmates!

Each squishy Valentine card measures 3 x 4.5 inches and prints four cards per page. Feel free to print as many copies as you need for personal or classroom use. Enjoy!
