“Eat your greens!” Do you remember this as a child or perhaps you are telling it to your own children. You may think that it is difficult for your taste buds to swallow but believe it or not, it is even harder on your body.
What? So greens are good for you but they are hard on the body?
Hold on! … Greens’ nutrients are stored within their cell walls and to release all of the valuable nutrients stored within, the cell walls need to be ruptured. By blending the greens your body can absorb the nutrients easily and quickly and to appease your taste buds, fruit is thrown into the mixture. Problem solved!
Eat green! Because of all fiber found in the green smoothie, the absorption of fruit sugars is slower so you won’t end up with a sugar rush which comes from simply juicing.
Green smoothies are quite popular now, which is a great thing but have you ever had one? Do not let the color or the fact that they are healthy scare you away! Here is a green smoothie recipe that is in our (yes my toddler enjoys them) regular cycle of breakfast smoothies that is simple and tasty.
