I have a really good friend who, due to the circumstances at the time, ended up getting married on her birthday. Convenient for her husband, right? Or maybe just extra pressure—depending on how you look at it! But that’s not all of it! Her birthday is in early May, so every few years, it actually falls on Mother’s Day. Yep—her birthday, their anniversary, and Mother’s Day, all rolled into one! That means her husband really only has one day to remember… but with all that packed into a single date, he definitely can’t afford to forget it!
Speaking of Mother’s Day, if you’re anything like me, you want to make sure the moms in your life feel extra loved and appreciated. Whether it’s your own mom, a mother figure, your sister, or a friend who’s rocking motherhood—this is the perfect time to let them know just how much they mean to you.
To help you out, I made some free printable Mother’s Day gift tags you can download and use on your gifts this year. They’re super cute, easy to print, and add a little personal touch.
And speaking of gifts—if you’re still deciding on what to give, don’t worry. I’ve put together a list of thoughtful, creative, and meaningful gift ideas to help you celebrate the moms you love most!

Mother’s Day Gifts Ideas
1. Flowers
What is the symbol of Mothers Day?
It turns out that carnations are the traditional flower of Mother’s Day. Did you even know there was an official flower for Mother’s Day? I didn’t! While carnations aren’t exactly my favorite (no offense, carnation lovers), I’ll admit—they are pretty. Flowers have always been a go-to Mother’s Day gift, and for good reason. But before you head to the store to grab a bouquet that’ll be wilting by the end of the week, why not think a little outside the box?
Instead of opting for cut flowers, why not visit your local greenhouse (Home Depot works too!) and pick up some bright annuals that she can enjoy for a season? Or go for perennials that will continue to bloom year after year. If you’re looking for something inside, consider a beautiful house plant—better yet, an orchid! Do you have an orchid in your life? If not, you definitely should! I’ve had mine for years and while the flowers shed, they always come back and bloom again. They’re absolutely gorgeous.
Or maybe skip the live plants altogether and get some LEGO flowers! The vibrant, buildable blooms never wilt and make a fun, lasting activity you can do together! They’ll create a beautiful display that lasts far longer than traditional flowers—such a fun twist on a classic gift. Personally, I’m all about live plants (I just planted my first flower bed this year and I’m loving it!), but I know my boys would be thrilled if I got LEGO flowers instead. 😉
2. Something Pink for Mother’s Day
What color symbolizes Mother’s Day?
Turns out, it’s pink! This lovely hue represents love, gratitude, and the strong, nurturing spirit of motherhood. So, why not add a little pink flair to your Mother’s Day gift this year? There are so many fun and thoughtful ways to add a touch of pink. A bouquet of soft pink roses or carnations are always a classic as discussed earlier, but you can also think beyond flowers. How about a box of decadent pink Lindor chocolates (yes, the strawberry and cream ones—so good!), or a spa gift basket filled with rose-scented bath salts, a pink clay mask, and cozy pink slippers? Even a cute pink coffee mug, some fancy pink pens, or a Kendra Scott heart necklace can make her feel extra special—including me! I’d absolutely love that necklace!
Whether it’s bold or subtle, adding a touch of pink is a sweet and symbolic way to honor the moms in your life. Unless your mom despises pink, of course. 😉
3. Custom Gift
What made her a mother? The love, care, and devotion she’s poured into her family and those she’s nurtured along the way. Maybe celebrate her journey with a personalized gift that honors the people she loves who made her a mom. Consider something that includes the names or photos of her children or grandchildren—like a custom-engraved bracelet with the names of all of her children and grandchildren, a family name sign, or a guided journal to capture her life’s story.
Several months before my mom passed away, my sister and I reached out to family and friends for photos and memories they had with her. We gathered everything and compiled it into a beautiful scrapbook. Words can’t even describe how much she loved it, but the tears streamed down her face as she turned each page. She cherished that book and would flip through it on the hard days of her cancer journey. I’m so incredibly glad that I followed that little nudge to take the time to make it for her.
4. Encourage Her Hobbies and Interests
She’s spent so much of her time helping others reach their goals—so why not encourage her in her own? One of the most meaningful gifts you can give is aiding her to pursue (or rediscover) her own passions.
For example, if she already has a hobby she loves—gardening, cooking, reading, crafting—look for something that enhances it, like a new tool set, cookbook, or DIY kit. Or inspire her to try something new.
I had wanted a ukulele for the longest time, and one year, my husband surprised me with my very own. It was honestly one of the best gifts I’ve ever received!
5. Something Homemade & Handwritten
There’s just something special about a gift you’ve made yourself—especially when it comes from the heart. You simply can’t beat the value of time, thought, and love that goes into a homemade or handwritten gift for Mother’s Day. Even a simple card with some honest, heartfelt words can mean way more than anything you could buy at a store.
I come from a big family—seven siblings! And growing up, we all knew we had nailed the perfect gift if we could get our mom to cry (happy tears, of course!). More often than not, it was the homemade, handwritten cards that did it. We’d write out how much we loved and appreciated her and she cherished those more than anything else we gave her!
6. Gifts to Make Her Life Easier
Sometimes, practical gifts can be the most appreciated for Mother’s Day. I’m not talking about a boring vacuum cleaner or another kitchen appliance, but rather something a bit more fun and considerate. For example, a box of birthday cards so she’s always prepared for upcoming celebrations, or perhaps you’ve noticed she needs new gloves for when she takes her warming walk, or maybe you’ve noticed that her suitcase is on it’s last leg and could use an upgrade. These small, thoughtful touches show you understand the day-to-day things that can make her life just a bit smoother, and add a smile to her face.
7. The Gift of Time
How do you spell love? T-I-M-E. As corny as that may sound, it couldn’t be more true. When it comes down to it, there’s no better way to show your love than by simply spending time with the people who matter most. For Mother’s Day, the best gift might not come in a box—but in the form of your presence.
Take her out to lunch, grab a fancy dessert together, or plan a little outing she’ll enjoy. It doesn’t have to be expensive or elaborate—it just has to be intentional. The moments you create together will mean more than anything you could buy.
And if you do feel like you need to give her something physical, print out these free customizable Mother’s Day coupons. They’re filled with little things she can cash in on later—like a walk together, a movie night, or help with something around the house. It’s a sweet way to spread the love beyond just one day.

Whatever gift you choose, I’m sure she’ll feel the love and thought that went into it—and that’s what matters most! Now all you need is a cute little Mother’s Day gift tag to top it off… and don’t worry, I’ve got you covered!
