Our little man is 10 months today! I can hardly believe he is almost a year old. Time seems to fly by ten times as fast when you have two children.
With Christmas less than a week away, I know Thanksgiving seems forever ago. But for a little recap, we took a road trip during Thanksgiving break to Florida to meet up with family at Navarre Beach. We had fun building sandcastles on the beach, swimming in the pool, visiting museums, playing games after the children went to bed, and enjoying each others company. We especially loved seeing Boston interact so well (as well as toddlers do) with his cousins. We celebrated our Thanksgiving feast on Tuesday so we had the rest of the week to eat the leftovers.
Yes we built this massive sandcastle… okay we just photo-bombed their picture of it.
Have you ever wanted to become the favorite aunt or uncle? Simply take your nieces and nephews on a shopping trip to pick out whatever treats they want. They will LOVE you for it! Boston still talks about his donuts.
Our boys had loads of fun in the water. Boston was absolutely fearless while his floaties were intact. He enjoyed jumping into the pool over and over again, adamantly declining anyone’s assistance. Tennessee kept trying to dive head first into the water. Thankfully the pool was heated, because although we were on a beach in Florida, it still was November.
We spent a day at the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola. Boston ran off a few times, once to the point of becoming lost. While looking for him, a lady asked if I was missing a toddler with blonde, crazy hair. Crazy hair? I have to admit I was a bit appauled by her statement. Thinking to myself, “My kid doesn’t have crazy hair!” A little sensitive I guess. (o: I thanked her for her lead and found my child.
While we were there, Boston flew a Blue Angel.
Okay onto the present month of December…
Nothing like strumming Christmas carols on the guitar to get you into the holiday spirit. My boys will congregate in the living room and begin dancing whenever they hear my husband play his guitar.
Thankfully we over dressed when we went to our city’s Christmas parade, as many people left before it was over due to the cold weather. Boston was thrilled to watch all the cars and trucks drive by and of course was a fan of the candy being thrown out.
Those of you that are around Boston know that he does not take kindly to just anyone holding him or giving him a high five for that matter. The fact that he went up to Santa on his own and has a smile on his face is AMAZING (you should see last year’s picture of him screaming)! The only prep work I have done is declare “there is Santa!” whenever we see a Santa Claus figure. Obviously I need to do a little coaching with my 10 month year old. (o:
Boston was in Heaven playing with the monster trucks and race cars that were on display after visiting Santa.
While on the subject of Boston, I took my first dive into potty training this last month. I was too lazy to simply say “It’s time to use the potty” every hour, so I went with the no pants route. That way I had to monitor him and take him to the potty. First day=success! But it was rather funny having him pant less, especially when he locked me out on accident while I was washing our front door’s window. I cannot imagine what my neighbors would have thought if they would have had to come help me out. Thankfully after a few minutes, he turned the knob the correct way. To add to the story, he had spilled something on his shirt so I had taken that off as well and shortly thereafter we received a surprise visit from my husband on his lunch break. I hadn’t prepped him on my potty training plan so he was a bit astonished to find a naked toddler greeting him at the door saying, “Hi Daddy!” It was quite priceless. (0:
Our Church’s holiday party (and it was AMAZING!) was themed after the Polar Express movie. They asked my husband to come dressed up as one of the characters to help set the ambiance.
I hope the holiday craziness is settling down for you so you can actually enjoy this special time of year. Oh random question, if you are buying your children matching pajamas for Christmas morning, would you purchase pajamas with a holiday print or just everyday pajamas? Ah decisions…
MERRY CHRISTMAS from our family (& Santa) to yours!
